Fighting Stickmen
Reason selected: Most liked program on the weekly leaderboard
Fighting Stickmen is a Python Turtle program that draws a small action scene with stick-figure characters and comic-style text like “OOF!” and “YAH!”
What makes this project so fun is how much expression comes through using simple lines and shapes. The program uses Turtle commands to move around the screen, draw characters, place text, and create the feeling of a little stickman battle scene.
One thing I really like about this project is that it feels like the student was having fun while building it. It has a playful idea, a clear visual style, and a sense of humor. You can tell the creator was not just completing an assignment. They were making something they wanted other people to see.
That is one of the things I love seeing in student coding projects.
Coding does not always have to start with something huge or complicated. Sometimes a great project begins with a small idea: a character, a scene, a joke, or a game concept. Then students slowly turn that idea into something real with code.
In Fighting Stickmen, every line, turn, and shape had to be placed intentionally. The final result is a creative little scene that shows patience, imagination, and attention to detail.
This project stood out because it was memorable.
It was not trying to be overly fancy. It had a clear idea and followed through on it. The stickmen, the action, and the comic-style words all work together to make the program feel alive.
For students, projects like this are exciting because they show that coding can be creative. You can use code to draw, animate, tell stories, build games, and make things that feel personal.
For parents, it is a nice reminder that when students enjoy what they are building, they often become more curious and more willing to keep going.
At Bright Coders, we believe fun projects matter. Strong foundations are important too, of course, but students often build those foundations best when they are excited to create something of their own.
If your child wants to build projects like this, our free intro course is a great place to start.
They do not need to know everything before beginning. They just need a good first experience, some guidance, and a project that helps them feel, “I can actually make something with code.”
Congratulations to the creator of Fighting Stickmen for making this week’s most liked program. We are excited to see what our students build next.
